The stem is short and thick enough that I can carry the whole thing with one hand, even with a heavy cake on top. The glass has that slight irregularity you only get from mouth-blown pieces, which makes it feel more special than a machine-made dome.

The dome sits perfectly over a full layer cake without touching the frosting, and the balance on that short, thick stem feels rock-solid. I've used it for both a birthday cake and a tray of petits fours, and the mouth-blown glass has a lovely, slightly organic shimmer in the light.

The short, thick stem makes it surprisingly stable even when I’m carrying a fully loaded cake to the table. The glass has a nice, clear weight to it that feels more substantial than I expected for the price.
